In October 2026, as part of the LEGENDS project, a Train the Trainer session was held at the Polemidia Open School, bringing together one primary education teacher and three adult educators.
The session focused on presenting the project’s results and the educational materials developed through LEGENDS, while preparing participants to deliver upcoming intergenerational workshops involving children aged 12 and adults aged 60 and above.
Particular emphasis was placed on fostering meaningful collaboration between the two generations and using digital storytelling as a tool for sharing experiences, preserving memories and highlighting local cultural heritage. Through the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to explore how personal stories and lived experiences can contribute to a deeper understanding of the communities in which they live.
The participants also discussed the organisation and implementation of the upcoming workshops, including the possibility of developing a local heritage route through the neighbourhood. The proposed route could include stops at places of cultural and historical interest, such as churches, monuments, the municipal building, as well as shops and other buildings whose use has changed over the years.
This potential route would provide a practical starting point for bringing the two generations together to collect memories, stories and perspectives connected to the local area. These experiences could then be transformed into digital stories, allowing participants to document and share aspects of local heritage through their own voices.
The Train the Trainer session marks an important step towards the implementation of the LEGENDS intergenerational workshops, supporting educators in creating learning experiences that connect generations, strengthen community ties and promote the preservation of local cultural heritage through digital storytelling.
